Here are the most memorable football jerseys in KNVB history.
Here are the most memorable football jerseys in KNVB history.

This geometric pattern was first introduced in UEFA European Championship in 1988.

Although worn for the tournament's entirety, fans only saw the jersey on Dutch players for five matches.

Its final appearance is its most memorable – where KNVB won their first and only UEFA Euro title.

Previously ruled by Adidas, a new kit manufacturer emerged for the 1994 FIFA World Cup – an Italian company named Lotto.

The jersey was decorated in their iconic orange for the Dutch, with a unique monogram throughout that featured the club's famous lion.

Initially criticized with close resemblance to their last kit, KNVB's Home kit for the 1996 UEFA Euros was nowhere near a copy.

Adorned in the team's notable orange, the front of the jersey saw a faint watermark of Dutch players celebrating Wim Jonk's goal against Ireland in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

With players being photographed wearing the jerseys, Lotto essentially recreated the famous Dutch phenomenon – the Droste effect.

Boasting the Netherlands flag colours across the chest, this patriotic design closely resembles the club's 1905 Away shirt.

This iconic design was worn for KNVB's first-ever official international match, where they played against Belgium in Antwerp on April 30, 1905. The Dutch won the match 4-1 in overtime.

The Away kit for the 2008 UEFA Euros was the first time since 2002 where blue was the colour used primarily on a KNVB jersey.

However, this specific hue of blue – which resembled more turquoise, to be honest – was the first and only time the colour was ever used in a KNVB kit.

To celebrate the club's 125th anniversary, the 2014 World Cup Away kit featured a striking new lion patch that honoured the traditional crest used from 1907 to the 1970s.

It laid on a blue gradient on a geometric design – perhaps a homage to the 1988 UEFA Euro kit?

The most recent kit – and worn right now in the UEFA Euros – features the Away jersey in black and the Home jersey in orange.

Continuing the historic geometric theme, the Home kit features an eye-catching lion graphic spread across the front of the shirt.

A first-of-its-kind development in football, the club's renowned lion is not printed, but knitted in the garment itself.
